Finally: I walked a mile and a half

WalkAs some of my readers know, I’ve been recovering from an ankle injury. Today I walked a mile and a half and I felt more hopeful than I have in a long time.

It was great to feel mobile again. I can finally see the finish line of my rehab process. I’m not the first person to injure herself, but it was the first time for me and I have been less than patient with the process. Now it has been 3 months since my surgery and I am on the road to walking long distances again, which is what I love to do. It’s my favorite form of exercise.

Freedom from injury is so important and this whole process has really made me more empathetic with people with disabilities. Sometimes you don’t get the luxury of getting better. I’ve been miserable with my months of rehab, but I know that it will improve and I won’t have a lifetime of pain. Knowing that makes me that much more thankful for my physical therapy, my chiropractor and the orthopedic surgeon who did such a good job on my surgery. I am also thankful for all of the support that I’ve had from friends and family.
