How to Motivate to Workout

WorkoutGetting motivated to workout is a challenge for me, so I thought I would outline some ideas about how to get started:

1. Set a goal

My goal right now is to be more fit by September. I want to be in the habit of working out every day starting now in July and August, so I can feel better by September and start fitting into my clothes better. The day top day goal is to workout every day and the bigger goal is to lose weight and feel stronger by September. Whatever your goal is it is useful to have one.

2. Don’t make excuses

Today is as important as any day to shed excuses for working out. You can always fit in at least 10 or 20 minutes a day. One way to do this is to try to walk more and make reasons to get from point A to B by foot.

Just say yes.

3. Visualize

Think about how good you will feel if you make the effort to move about. It’s worth it. You know you will feel better and the end result is a positive mind set.

    In regard to your goal/s: Make sure that the goal is measurable ex: I will walk 5 x this week for 45 minutes each time or I will lose 10 pounds by September 1st. If your goal is wishy-washy it’s way too easy to adjust it as you go along to fit your needs. Don’t be afraid to set a finite goal and then reach for it. That way, when you get there you’ll know you’ve accomplished it and that feeling of accomplishment will fuel future successes. Go for it, Jessica. I’m rooting for you!
